Prof. Sadia Khan is a Consultant Cardiologist and Professor of Practice at Imperial College London, with an interest in heart failure, atrial fibrillation, community cardiology, and digital transformation and innovation. She is the Service Lead for Cardiology and has established community heart failure services and improved care for heart failure patients. She has led nationally recognised work in atrial fibrillation care, which has been adopted across London.
Prof. Khan has a keen interest in research and innovation and has been the Clinical Lead for several studies, including:
Test Beds Wave 2 – Developing a Schedule for Unscheduled Care (Oct 2018 – Oct 2020): As Clinical Lead, she oversaw this project which received £1.3 million in funding and recruited over 1,000 patients.
Heart Failure Project with Novartis: As Clinical Lead, she secured £140,000 in funding. The project was shortlisted for an HSJ Partnership Award in 2019.
CLAHRC NWL Hounslow Community Atrial Fibrillation Project (Round 6, 2015 – 2020): As Project Lead, she attracted over £350,000 in grant support. The project led to a 17% reduction in strokes in the London Borough of Hounslow.
She also holds a teaching role at Imperial College London, acting as a personal and academic tutor to a group of up to 25 undergraduates and supervising PhD, MD, and MPH students.
Dr. Phillip Barclay began his training in anaesthesia in Manchester in 1992 and moved to Liverpool as a Specialist Registrar in 1994. In 1999, he was appointed as a Consultant Anaesthetist and Research Lead at Liverpool Women’s Hospital, with research interests in obstetric anaesthesia that have included Rocuronium for obstetric intubation, difficult and failed intubation, neuraxial opiates, and coagulopathy associated with major haemorrhage.
In 2014, he moved to London to work at the West Middlesex site of Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust, where he was Lead Obstetric Anaesthetist from 2015 to 2019 and Clinical Director from 2019 to 2024. As an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer for Imperial College London, he coordinates undergraduate teaching in anaesthesia.
Dr. Barclay served on the Executive Committee of the Obstetric Anaesthetists' Association. He represented obstetric anaesthesia for six years on the NICE Obstetric Guidelines Committee, producing guidelines including Intrapartum Care for Women with Existing Medical Conditions or Obstetric Complications and their Babies, Hypertension in Pregnancy, Induction of Labour, Caesarean Birth, and Intrapartum Care.
In 2022, he was elected as a Board member of the Association of Anaesthetists and was elected as Treasurer Elect. He chairs the Heritage Steering Group and is joint chair of the Safety, Standards, Environment and Sustainability Committee. He is the co-chair of the Safe Anaesthesia Liaison Group and co-editor of the Patient Safety Update. He is also a member of the Pre-filled Syringe Taskforce.
In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, travel, and photography.
Assoc. Prof. Noemi Roy is a Consultant Haematologist at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and an Associate Professor of Molecular Haematology at the University of Oxford. She is the Rare Inherited Anaemia Lead on the National Haemoglobinopathy Panel. Her main interests are haemoglobinopathies and rare inherited anaemias, and in particular the genetic investigation of inherited anaemias, including whole genome sequencing.
She is also involved in investigating the management of iron deficiency in diverse patient groups. She is dedicated to using patients' views to guide how research is conducted in haematology and to coordinating best practice care in red cell disorders at the European level. She leads quality of life studies in sickle cell disease, as well as initiatives to improve compliance, patient understanding, and patient pathways for high-quality care.
Dr. Andrew McKechnie is a Consultant Anaesthetist at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust in South London. His clinical interests are in anaesthesia for patients living with obesity and in airway management. Consequently, his regular lists include ENT and bariatric surgery, and he is the Airway and Obesity Lead for the Trust.
Dr. McKechnie is the President of SOBA UK. Under his leadership, SOBA has collaborated on projects with many societies, seen membership engagement increase, and continued to promote best practice in this specialist area.
His research interests are currently focused on the management of patients with obesity. In 2025, he published the SOBA airway management recommendations and co-authored the National GLP-1 guidance. He led the development of the SOBA consent, transfer, and paediatric guidance. He has published a meta-analysis of V/L vs. DL in patients living with obesity and is Co-Lead for the GLIMPSE GLP study.
Dr. Natasha Curran is the Medical Director of the Health Innovation Network South London, Implementation Lead for the Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) South London, and Vice-Chair of London’s Clinical Senate Council.
Her clinical and research interests are in the biopsychosocial field of complex pain. She practices at University College London and Barts Hospitals. She is a reviewer for NICE, BMJ Open, the NIHR, the British Journal of Pain, and Perioperative Medicine.
She has served on the boards of the National Innovation Accelerator, the Clinical Reference Group for Specialised Pain, and Wandsworth CCG.
Dr. Nicholas Levy is a Consultant Anaesthetist at West Suffolk Hospital. For the past 17 years, he has worked with diabetologists, surgeons, specialist diabetes inpatient nurses, and pharmacists to improve the management and outcomes of surgical patients with diabetes.
His work has helped transform the management of patients with diabetes undergoing surgery. Patients are no longer denied day surgery and no longer require admission the night before surgery for intravenous insulin infusions. The modification of diabetes medication is now the preferred strategy for managing diabetes in the perioperative period. He has led the development of both the CPOC guidelines and the 2025/2026 Association guidelines.
He has helped develop the UK’s perioperative guidance on managing diabetes wearable technology, including continuous glucose monitoring, hybrid closed-loop technology, and continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (insulin pumps).
For his work, he has been awarded the Featherstone Professorship by the Association and the President’s Commendation by the College.
His talk will discuss the top 10 recommendations produced by the Association of Anaesthetists and the Joint British Diabetes Societies, which will be published in early 2026.
Dr. Wint Mon is a Consultant Anaesthetist and Bariatric Anaesthesia Lead at University College London Hospital. She has led a number of service improvement projects to enhance multidisciplinary working in perioperative risk stratification and pre-optimisation.
She is also a College Tutor and leads perioperative medicine training for the residents at University College London Hospital. As a Perioperative Care Lead for North Central London, she works with primary care teams to improve perioperative pathways and communication.
Dr. Sara McNeillis is a Consultant with dual interests in sleep disorder management and anaesthesia at the Royal National Ear, Nose and Throat and Eastman Dental Hospital. She works with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care for patients with sleep disorders and sleep apnoea.
She graduated from King's College London and completed junior surgical posts before specialising in anaesthesia via the North London Central Rotation. She became a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 2005 and gained specialist registration in 2008.
She developed an interest in sleep disorders during her training, recognising the physiological overlaps in upper airway function during natural sleep and anaesthesia. She has worked at the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital Sleep Department since 2005, and was appointed as a Sleep Consultant in 2011. She has played a key role in developing and expanding the unit into a comprehensive sleep service and is currently the Clinical Lead for the department. She is also an Honorary Lecturer at University College London.
In a private capacity, she is the Medical Director for Sleep and Health Clinic Ltd. Her research interests are in the field of sleep; she has published on rare andrological disorders in sleep and regeneration. She is now focused on researching new digital sleep monitoring for sleep diagnosis and management.
